If you've been browsing the fabric selection in my shop and are stumped for ideas I'm here to help! I've found 5 great sewing ideas for you to try, paired them with my fabric offering, and best of all they're all free to use!
Novelty Prints x DIY Baby bibs
Hunter Truck and Queue For The Zoo are great prints for kids so why not try out the DIY Baby Bib pattern from Alice & Lois? All the instructions and a downloadable template are on their blog, and you could even use an old towel for the backing instead of buying new towelling!
Katie and Millie Tana Lawn x Etty Camisole
The free Etty Camisole sewing pattern from Tammy Handmade is ideal for this 1.6m piece of Katie and Millie Tana Lawn. The pattern ranges from a 31 - 49" bust and can be downloaded for free and printed at home. I love that scalloped neckline!
Ditsy Prints x DIY Scrunchie with Hair Tie
Scrunchies are back and Threads Magazine have a great tutorial for making your own scrunchies in a range of sizes with the option to add the little bunny ear bow on it as well, very cute! The smaller pieces of Glenjade, Bella and Wiltshire are just the right amount to make a few and give them as gifts, and the smaller prints work great for little projects like this. And don't forget it's 3 for 2 across all my fabric listings so you can pick and choose the best prints!
Hendrix Tana Lawn x DIY Trapeze Cross Back Top
You only need 1m x 1m of fabric to make the DIY Trapeze Cross Back Top from Pretty Quirky Pants, so with the 1.4m of Hendrix Tana Lawn I've got here you'll have a bit of room to extend the length or fit to your choosing. All the instructions are available for free on her blog with explanatory pictures. This would be a great project to get made ahead of a trip somewhere sunny!
Scrap Bags x Scrappy Fabric Garland
This no-sew Scrappy Fabric Garland project by Cluck Cluck Sew is the perfect use for my scrap bags. You can buy a few and have a relaxing evening of cutting strips and tying knots while you enjoy a glass of wine or watch TV. My scrap bags contain various sizes and shapes of scrap so you can easily customise the garland to what you have in your bag.
I hope that's given you some food for thought! Let me know if you try out any of these ideas, and if you have your own favourite free sewing resources let me know in the comments :)
